Here you will find a collection of my grade 11 academic English assignments.
REFLECTION
Starting off ENG3UI, I had planned to do all of my work on time, and always put out my best work. I didn’t think much of this because in past years I was always on top of my work. That got to my head, and I started to fall behind on assignments. When an assignment was late or I was rushing to get it done, I only worked to complete the assignment, and I wasn’t concerned about the quality of the work. I think I am a strong writer and can get a point across clearly and effectively if I want to, but some of my work failed to show that. For example, my Macbeth formal paragraph. The assignment was late and I was scrambling to get it done, so instead of focusing on my argument and points, I focused solely on finishing the assignment. My points were decent, but my explanation wasn’t strong enough and didn’t always have a clear connection to my thesis. If I had put more effort into the paragraph and not waited until last minute to finish it I could’ve improved my mark drastically. I hope to take what I’ve learned about my work habits into ENG4UI next year. I know I am a strong student who can achieve great marks if I try my hardest and don’t procrastinate. Working on specific learning skills like Organization and Self-Regulation will help me obtain the marks I know I can get as long as I don’t procrastinate and I organize my time well. I also hope this will prepare me for more than just grade 12, but University. I know I won’t last very long in University if I don’t pick up better work habits now, and I don’t want to regret my choices about taking University if it ends up being too much. I know I am capable, it’s just a matter of putting in the time and effort now so I can apply that in University. My hope is to take the lessons learned from this class and apply them to my future in not only English, but overall in my school career.
